Your challenges

  • Possess a working and practical knowledge of industrial electrical power systems,
  • frequency converters, water systems and process water treatment, raw material handling
  • systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, elevator systems, as well as other industrial
  • machinery and equipment.
  • Provide hands-on technical support, as well as administrative support as required, to
  • Manufacturing and Assembly Operations, Warehouse and Distribution Centers, and
  • Administrative Departments.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the building and grounds, including the
  • supervision and scheduling of the custodial and grounds maintenance companies.
  • Possess the applied technical knowledge to oversee and maintain building fire alarm
  • systems, access control systems, security systems and surveillance system.
  • Oversee Eppendorf Recycling programs.
  • Aid in the development and administration of plant and facility safety measures and
  • programs in conjunction with Human Resources and the Environmental, Health, and
  • Safety Manager.
  • Evaluate existing procedures/processes. Recommend and implement changes for
  • improvement in process efficiency and/or product quality.
  • Support Facility Management in maintaining normal operation of all facility and
  • production functions in the event of emergency and/or non-routine situations. This shall
  • include occasional off-hours, night, and weekend availability.
  • Create and maintain maintenance records/logs on facility and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and facilitate the repair of malfunctioning production, process, or facility
  • support equipment. Determine if vendor or contractor support is necessary and arrange
  • for same.
  • Locate vendors/suppliers, and requisition parts and services as required, in the routine or
  • non-routine repair and maintenance of facility or process equipment.
  • Responsible for the selection, installation, commissioning, and ongoing administration of
  • Automated Building Management Systems.
  • Responsible for the selection, installation, commissioning, and ongoing administration of
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Facility Project Responsibilities: Participate in the management, support, and supervision of all on-going and future construction and renovation projects for Eppendorf on a technical, administrative, or hands-on level as the need dictates.
  • Coordinate the design, development, construction, and commissioning phases of process and facility improvements and alterations. Provide detailed planning, scheduling, and oversight of projects.
  • Direct the efforts of engineering firms, suppliers, vendors, and trades to complete projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Instruct contractors and sub-contractors in all Eppendorf Safety Policies and Procedures prior to commencement of work.
  • Instruct Facility Technicians in the proper technical and safety procedures to adhere to during work on any project.
  • Lead the efforts of Facility Technicians and contractors to achieve the successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Identify and initiate Energy Conservation Measures facility-wide.
  • Coordinate Energy Conservation project planning and progress with the utility service companies to seek out and obtain monetary energy conservation incentives and rebates which may be available to offset the cost of the measures taken.

Your expertise

  • HS Diploma, and/or Technical Certification with five or more years of experience in facilities maintenance and/or coordination of facilities projects. Requirements include, but are not limited to having strong mechanical abilities, and familiarity with sophisticated electromechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is a must. Must be computer literate, have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, and possess strong project management and organizational skills. Experience with drawing programs, such as AutoCAD and Visio is a plus.
