- New distribution center officially opened in Enfield, Connecticut
- Targeted strengthening of the supply chain and of the customer focus throughout the Americas
- 23,000 square meters in size with storage capacity of approx. 11,500 pallets
Enfield, Connecticut, USA May 11, 2023 – The opening of Eppendorf’s new distribution center in Enfield, Connecticut, USA, demonstrates the Group’s ambitions and its strong commitment to the market region Americas. It enables even better product availability for customers and increases delivery capacity especially in North America. Strategically located in close proximity to the major trade lanes and ports of Boston and New York as well as to Eppendorf’s local production site, it strengthens the Group’s local and international supply chain.
"The Americas have been a home turf for more than 15 years and is an extremely important market for the Eppendorf Group, " said Eva van Pelt, Co-CEO of the Eppendorf Group, during the official inauguration of the distribution center on May 2, 2023. "The new distribution center, about three soccer fields in size and just a few minutes’ drive from our production site in Enfield, marks a milestone in continuing Eppendorf’s successful growth in the US and the entire market region."
Even better customer centricity through strong and reliable supply chains
Let alone from 2019 to 2022 Eppendorf’s revenues in the Americas market region grew by more than 50 percent. In fiscal year 2022 the Americas contributed 37.5 percent of Eppendorf’s total revenue, a plus of 26.1 percent compared to the previous year. This impressive development demonstrates the strength and relevance of the market. The number of employees in the region increased by about 14 percent from 2019 to 2022. To foster further positive development and enable sustainable growth Eppendorf is strategically investing in the expansion of its global locations.
The new distribution center is the most recent result of continuous investments made by the globally operating Eppendorf Group. Others include the move to a new, larger office site in Framingham, Massachusetts and São Paulo, Brazil, as well as extensive renovations of office space and continuous expansion of the production site in Enfield, Connecticut.
Eppendorf has been on a growth trajectory, that was given additional momentum by the high demand during the Corona pandemic. Corona vaccine developers such as Pfizer/BioNtech, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson trusted Eppendorf’s products for their developments in the fight against Covid. To ensure even better product availability for customers of the market region and delivery capability in the Americas, the go-ahead was given in December 2021 for the construction of a new logistics site in Enfield, Connecticut, USA. The new distribution center is around 23,000 square meters (240,000 square feet) in size with storage capacity of approx. 11,500 pallets.
"Our new distribution center in the US is part of an elaborate global supply chain strategy aiming at further developing Eppendorf’s distribution structures to growing local demand, expanding international supply streams and newly established as well as expanding production networks," Eva van Pelt explains. "Through the global supply chain strategy, the Eppendorf Group provides an end-to-end supply chain that meets customers' expectations by being reliable, efficient, transparent and by becoming more environmentally friendly."
With the new state-of-the-art distribution facility, logistical processes can be even better standardized, which in turn provides faster throughput, meaning faster deliveries to customers.
