Eppendorf Polymere: Economic Affairs Minister Buchholz thanks employees during company visit

Hamburg/Oldenburg i. H., July 26, 2021– Dr. Bernd Buchholz, Minister of Economic Affairs, Transport, Employment, Technology and Tourismfor the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, visited Eppendorf Polymere GmbH in Oldenburg on July 23 and learned about the company’s positive development and the workforce’s impressive battle against the corona pandemic. Other issues included the expansion of the Oldenburg facility, the company’s current innovation activities and its hiring program. The visit concluded with a look at the clean-room production of high-quality lab consumables in one of the newly built production halls.
“Eppendorf Polymere GmbH in Oldenburg is a global leader in the development and production of high-quality lab consumables,” explained Dr. Peter Fruhstorfer, Co-CEO of Eppendorf AG, during the minister’s visit. “Research labs around the world use the high-tech products we make in Schleswig-Holstein.” Fruhstorfer added that the materials produced in Oldenburg are being used in particular by diagnostic labs and vaccine manufacturers in the fight against the corona pandemic. Eppendorf responded to this need by expanding its production capacities by 30 percent last year, and is also planning further investments and production increases in Oldenburg.
After visiting the production operation, Minister Buchholz said he was impressed by the performance of the facility in Oldenburg: “Eppendorf Polymere GmbH is making an extraordinary contribution in the battle against the corona pandemic. I would like to thank all the employees for their tremendous commitment and passion. Especially the last 18 months have required a particular effort to meet the challenges posed by the pandemic. I am confident that Eppendorf’s location in Oldenburg will continue to develop positively and grow further.” He added that Eppendorf Polymere GmbH has also demonstrated impressively that it is one of the key players in the very strongly and steadily growing life science industry in northern Germany.
Investments and hiring offensive for further growth
Eppendorf Polymere is one of the largest employers in the Eastern Holstein region, with more than 550 employees, and the company continues to grow steadily. The production facility completed last year will soon be complemented by a new administrative building with space for more than 100 modern workstations, several conference rooms and a spacious company restaurant. The company has also initiated a wide-ranging program to fill the large number of job openings that the company has in every area.
“We continuously invest in the infrastructure and in the long-term expansion of our workforce,” Dr. Thomas Reimann, Managing Director of Eppendorf Polymere GmbH, said in describing the company’s growth trajectory. “This also includes a very good program for our trainees – all of whom have been offered permanent positions in recent years once their training was completed. We currently have more than 80 job openings to fill. Most of these positions are in production, machine and system operations, packing and tooling technology.” Reimann added that career changers were welcome to apply for the open positions as well.
